Canon FT Resin Half-Cut (1966)

The Canon FT of 1966 brought through-the-lens light metering and Canon’s clever “QL” Quick Loading system, a fully mechanical, all-metal classic. In this piece, our studio cuts a real FT straight down the middle and seals it in crystal-clear resin, so you can see a perfect cross-section of the mirror, prism, shutter and gears, like a page from an engineering book.

We know how much a Canon FT can mean, because cameras like this one recorded our own childhoods too. Every piece starts with a real camera that our studio team disassembles by hand, cleans part by part, designs and assembles in our Los Angeles workshop. It is slow, careful work, and it finally lets you see the precision mechanics that hid inside the body for decades. This is how we bring it a second life.

A NOTE ON CHARACTER

Every piece is built from a real vintage camera, so light scratches or signs of age may show. We think they are part of its story, and they make each piece one of a kind.
