Nikon F (1959)

The Nikon F of 1959 was Nikon’s first SLR and the camera that made Japanese photography famous worldwide. Photojournalists carried it through wars and world events, and its modular system set the standard for professional cameras for decades.

What you are looking at is something almost nobody gets to see: the inside of a Nikon F, the gears, springs and shutter that turned light into memories. Our studio members spend many hours on each piece, from disassembly and cleaning to designing the layout and producing the final piece, all by hand in Los Angeles. We love these machines, and every build is our way of giving a beautiful piece of photographic history a second life.

A NOTE ON CHARACTER

Every piece is built from a real vintage camera, so light scratches or signs of age may show. We think they are part of its story, and they make each piece one of a kind.
