About this piece

The handheld that brought Game Boy into color.

The Game Boy Color arrived in 1998 and finally brought color to Nintendo’s handheld, showing up to 56 colors at once while still playing the entire Game Boy library. Pokémon Gold and Silver, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX and Super Mario Bros. Deluxe made it the soundtrack of countless car rides and sleepovers, and its bright, playful shells became a symbol of late-90s childhood.

A NOTE ON CHARACTER

Each piece is built from a real pre-owned device, so light scratches or small signs of age may show. We think they are part of its story.

03 / From the workbench

Made by hand in Los Angeles.

We know how much a Game Boy Color can mean, because we grew up with them too. Every piece starts with a real device that our studio team disassembles by hand, cleans part by part, lays out and mounts in our Los Angeles workshop. It is slow, careful work, and it finally lets you see the engineering hidden inside the device you once spent countless hours with. This is how we bring it a second life.
