Canon FD 50mm Lens

The 50mm “nifty fifty” is the lens most film photographers started with, and Canon’s FD 50mm was the standard lens on cameras like the AE-1 and FT. Cut open, it shows how a handful of precisely ground glass elements bend light into a sharp image.

We know how much a Canon FD 50mm lens can mean, because cameras like this one recorded our own childhoods too. Every piece starts with a real camera that our studio team disassembles by hand, cleans part by part, designs and assembles in our Los Angeles workshop. It is slow, careful work, and it finally lets you see the precision mechanics that hid inside the body for decades. This is how we bring it a second life.

WHAT YOU GET

• Genuine, original parts: real lens components, not prints or replicas
• The glass elements, aperture blades, focusing helicoid, mount and metal barrel, cut open down the middle, arranged so you can see how it all works
• Every part hand-disassembled, cleaned and mounted one by one
• Freestanding display for a desk or shelf
• Handmade by the FunBox Design studio in Los Angeles

A NOTE ON CHARACTER

Every piece is built from a real vintage camera, so light scratches or signs of age may show. We think they are part of its story, and they make each piece one of a kind.
