Apple iPod nano 4th Generation (2008)

The iPod nano 4th generation of 2008 came in a slim, curved aluminum body and a rainbow of colors. It doubled the storage of the model before it and added an accelerometer, so you could simply shake it to shuffle your songs. Small, colorful and fun, it was the iPod many people got for a birthday or graduation.

Behind the glass is something you rarely get to see: the inside of an iPod nano that once played someone’s favorite songs on repeat. Our studio members spend hours on each piece, from disassembly and cleaning to designing the layout and producing the final frame, all by hand in Los Angeles. We grew up with these players in our ears, and every build is our way of giving a beloved piece of music history a second life.

A NOTE ON CHARACTER

Each piece is built from a real pre-owned device, so light scratches or small signs of age may show. We think they are part of its story.
