T-Mobile Sidekick LX (2009)

Before the iPhone, the Sidekick was the coolest phone you could own. With a screen that swiveled open to reveal a full keyboard, always-on messaging and a list of celebrity owners, it defined 2000s pop culture. The LX of 2009 was its final, most refined chapter.

Behind the glass is something you rarely get to see: the inside of a Sidekick that once carried someone’s calls, texts and photos. Our studio members spend hours on each piece, from disassembly and cleaning to designing the layout and producing the final piece, all by hand in Los Angeles. We grew up with these phones, and every build is our way of giving a beloved piece of tech history a second life.

A NOTE ON CHARACTER

Each piece is built from a real pre-owned device, so light scratches or small signs of age may show. We think they are part of its story.
