Nintendo DSi (2008)

The Nintendo DSi of 2008 added two cameras, an SD card slot and a downloadable game shop to the DS formula, turning the handheld into a little multimedia device. It was Nintendo’s first step toward the connected handhelds that followed, and for many it was their very first camera and online store in one.

We know how much a Nintendo DSi can mean, because we grew up with them too. Every piece starts with a real device that our studio team disassembles by hand, cleans part by part, lays out and mounts in our Los Angeles workshop. It is slow, careful work, and it finally lets you see the engineering hidden inside the device you once spent countless hours with. This is how we bring it a second life.

WHAT’S IN THE FRAME

• Genuine Nintendo DSi parts: real and original, not prints or replicas
• The both screens, touch layer, main circuit board, both cameras, D-pad, buttons, speakers and the shell, laid out so you can see how it all fits together
• Every part hand-disassembled, cleaned and mounted one by one
• Shadow box frame, ready to hang on the wall or stand on a desk or shelf
• Size: 15.4″ x 12.5″ x 2″ (approx. 39 x 32 x 5 cm)
• Comes in a gift box, ready to give
• Handmade by the FunBox Design studio in Los Angeles

A NOTE ON CHARACTER

Each piece is built from a real pre-owned device, so light scratches or small signs of age may show. We think they are part of its story.
