Nikon 80mm Lens

A classic Nikon portrait-length lens from the film era, built from metal and glass the way lenses used to be. Cut open, it shows how each precisely ground glass element works together to form the image.

What you are looking at is something almost nobody gets to see: the inside of a Nikon 80mm lens, the gears, springs and shutter that turned light into memories. Our studio members spend many hours on each piece, from disassembly and cleaning to designing the layout and producing the final piece, all by hand in Los Angeles. We love these machines, and every build is our way of giving a beautiful piece of photographic history a second life.

WHAT YOU GET

• Genuine, original parts: real lens components, not prints or replicas
• The glass elements, aperture blades, focusing helicoid, mount and metal barrel, cut open down the middle, arranged so you can see how it all works
• Every part hand-disassembled, cleaned and mounted one by one
• Freestanding display for a desk or shelf
• Handmade by the FunBox Design studio in Los Angeles

A NOTE ON CHARACTER

Every piece is built from a real vintage camera, so light scratches or signs of age may show. We think they are part of its story, and they make each piece one of a kind.
