Texas Instruments TI-83 Calculator (1996)

Released in 1996, the TI-83 became the graphing calculator of an entire generation of students. It went to every algebra class, every SAT and AP exam, and more than a few students secretly played games on it under the desk. For many people, it was the first computer they ever programmed.

Most people never got to see what was inside the calculator that got them through high school math. At FunBox Design, our studio team takes every TI-83 apart by hand, from the screen and circuit board to the keypad, cleans each part and lays it out in our Los Angeles workshop. It holds some of our own school memories too, and this is how we bring it a second life.
