NASA Voyager Golden Record (1977)

In 1977, NASA launched two spacecraft, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, on a grand tour of the outer planets. Each one carries a Golden Record, a message from humanity to anyone who might find it, curated by a team led by Carl Sagan: sounds of Earth, music from around the world, from Bach to Chuck Berry, greetings in 55 languages and images of life on our planet. Today Voyager 1 is the most distant human-made object ever, flying through interstellar space and still sending data home almost half a century later.

We wanted to bring that message down to Earth. Our studio team in Los Angeles builds each piece by hand: a detailed metal model of the Voyager spacecraft, a replica of the Golden Record, mission imagery and an engraved brass plaque, all carefully arranged and mounted in a deep shadow box. It is our small tribute to one of the most beautiful ideas humanity ever sent into space.
