Microsoft Xbox Original Controller (2001)

The first Xbox of 2001 was Microsoft’s bold entry into console gaming, and its compact controller soon became the standard way to play Halo 2, Fable and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Many of the ideas in today’s Xbox controllers started right here.

Most people never get to see what is inside the device that kept them company for so many years. At FunBox Design, our studio team takes every original Xbox controller apart by hand: careful disassembly, deep cleaning of every single part, layout design, and final production in our Los Angeles workshop. It takes hours of patient, screw-by-screw work, because these machines hold some of our own best memories too. Our goal is simple: bring them a second life.

WHAT’S IN THE FRAME

A NOTE ON CHARACTER

Each piece is built from a real pre-owned device, so light scratches or small signs of age may show. We think they are part of its story.
